From the Principal
August 5, 2020
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope you are all well and enjoying the warm summer weather. I want to welcome our incoming kindergarten students! Mrs. Leahy and I will be sending another virtual information video to K parents soon. First and second graders, we are so excited to see you again in September.
As the staff and I plan for the 2020-21 school year, I would like to assure you that the health and safety of your children and your family are at the forefront. Once again, we face a formidable challenge, but together, we will be able to keep our children learning, growing and thriving through these unprecedented times.
Please take note of Dr. McCahill’s important message regarding the reopening of schools. In it, he outlines our proposed K-12 Blended Learning Hybrid Schedule. The schedule allows for reduced capacity in schools, a combination of in-person and virtual instruction, and safer peer interactions. The smaller class size allows for social distancing throughout the day. To facilitate this model of 50% capacity, we will split students by last name, Group “A-L” and Group “M-Z”. Group “A-L” will attend school for in-person learning on Mondays and Tuesdays. Group “M-Z” will attend school for in-person learning on Thursdays and Fridays. Please also note, the start date for all Nanuet students is now set for Monday, September 14, 2020. We hope this information assists in making plans for your family as we begin the new school year.
In addition, to help your planning for the new school year, we have posted our supply lists on this website. Please see the links above for the K-2 grade level supply lists.
As you know, we await more information from the Governor. At this time, we will move forward with planning but please keep in mind the fluid nature of this process. I will be in touch with updated information as it becomes available. Please check our website for new information regularly and be on the lookout for K-12 Alerts. We are working hard to plan a safe reentry to school. Please continue to enjoy reading with your children regularly and developing their tolerance for wearing masks for longer periods of time. Do not hesitate to reach out with questions via email or in Dr. McCahill’s portal link.
Be well, stay healthy and continue to enjoy the summer!
All the best,
